Genetic evidence reveals how goosegrass colonized a newly formed volcanic island

Researchers at the University of Tsukuba have used genetic analyses to study how a species of grass known as goosegrass colonized Nishinoshima, an active volcanic island in the northwestern Pacific. As Phys.org tells it, the newly emerged island serves as a natural laboratory for scientists to observe the earliest stages of biological colonization and ecosystem development.
