Galaxies SIG Seminar, 8 Sept 2026

NASA Science says the Galaxies Science Interest Group is holding a virtual seminar on September eight, twenty twenty‑six at one p.m. Eastern. The talk, titled “Learning to See Sharper: Deep Learning for Astronomical Data Enhancement,” will be given by Shoubaneh Hemmati of Caltech and IPAC. She’ll explain how deep‑learning models can turn low‑resolution survey images into high‑resolution data, using neural networks to deblend crowded fields, super‑resolve infrared observations, and even simulate realistic surveys. The seminar will demonstrate how matching the right architecture to each scientific measurement can boost data quality for upcoming astronomical surveys.
