NASA Ames’ Contributions to Roman’s Mission
science
NASA reports that its Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, launching this Sunday, August thirtieth, will get a boost from researchers at Ames Research Center. They've developed software called ROSALIA to strip out stray light and zodiacal glare that could otherwise create false images of planets or nebulae. Ames also contributed a multi-star wavefront control system to help the telescope's coronagraph directly image exoplanets in binary star systems, like Alpha Centauri. The mission aims to tackle big questions about dark energy, exoplanets, and galaxy formation.
