The Productivity Commission is standing by an interim report that describes a goods and services tax deal with Western Australia as a costly mistake. According to The Guardian, the commission's head, Angela Jackson, says the body remains above politics despite Western Australia Premier Roger Cook calling critics "east coast clowns" and claiming any changes would remove six billion dollars from the state's economy.
