Airworthiness Directives; The Boeing Company Airplanes

tech

According to a Federal Register notice issued today, the Federal Aviation Administration is requiring new safety measures for Boeing seven fifty-seven and seven sixty-seven aircraft. Radio altimeters on these planes can become unreliable when exposed to five G wireless broadband signals—specifically in the three point seven to three point nine eight gigahertz band—while operating in Canadian airspace. This interference can degrade flight systems and increase pilot workload during critical phases like approaches and landings. Airlines must update their flight manuals to limit certain operations that depend on radio altimeter data when flying over Canada. The directive addresses a growing challenge as wireless infrastructure and aviation systems compete for the electromagnetic spectrum.
