Syria's Kurdish-led SDF dissolves as part of integration with Damascus

France 24 reports the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces has been dissolved, with the group's leader announcing the move on Tuesday. The dissolution marks a major step in the integration plan agreed with the Islamist-led government in Damascus earlier this year. The SDF, which had helped defeat the Islamic State with U.S. backing and held parts of northern and eastern Syria, had agreed in January to a phased integration into the state — a plan Washington called a historic milestone.
