Roman telescope aims to directly image exoplanets 1,000 times fainter than current limits

Phys.org reports that the Roman Space Telescope is designed to directly image exoplanets up to a thousand times fainter than what current instruments can detect. The telescope's complex optomechanical systems were developed by the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy. Direct imaging of exoplanets is notoriously difficult because planets are easily lost in the glare of their host stars.
