What privacy settings has WhatsApp changed?

tech

WhatsApp is introducing a new privacy feature: usernames. Instead of having to share your phone number to be contacted, you'll soon be able to create a username that others can use to find and message you. The feature is rolling out gradually to users worldwide. According to WhatsApp, this change is designed to give users greater control over who can reach them and how much of their personal contact information they need to share. The phased rollout means not all users will see the feature immediately, but it should become widely available in the coming weeks.
