How Airspeed Sensors Work

tech

According to Hackaday contributor Zoe Skyforest, airspeed sensors are essential aircraft instruments that measure how fast a plane is moving through the air—not relative to the ground, but relative to the surrounding air mass. Most aircraft rely on a pitot tube, which detects tiny pressure differences created by the plane's motion. This pressure data gets processed and displayed to the pilot, helping ensure the aircraft stays within safe operating speeds.
