Panic passes Trump tariff refunds back to the Playdate customers who paid them

tech

Ars Technica, in a Thursday report, says Panic, the indie publisher behind the quirky Playdate handheld, is refunding customers the nineteen percent import tariffs that were passed on during the Trump administration's trade policy. The refunds follow a February Supreme Court ruling that declared those tariffs illegal and required the government to reimburse companies that had paid them. Panic confirms it has now received those reimbursements and has removed the tariff charge from past orders, restoring the low‑margin pricing it originally planned for the yellow‑crank device.
