Nepal is reeling from severe flooding, and Australia's Greens say the government's response falls short. Foreign affairs spokesperson David Shoebridge told RN Breakfast that Australia's five million dollar commitment to affected communities "won't come close to touching the sides" of the disaster, given how little spare capacity Nepal has even in ordinary times. He argued Australia also has a duty to meet its own carbon targets and keep coal and gas in the ground, saying climate action and disaster response are connected. Shoebridge warned that without addressing that link, disasters like this will keep happening on a larger scale.
