PML-N fields ‘fresh face’ for AJK PM election today

Dawn reports that Azad Jammu and Kashmir's legislative assembly is set to elect a new prime minister on Friday, with the ruling PML-N fielding Barrister Syed Iftikhar Ali Gillani. The nomination was announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, but two senior party leaders from the region, Shah Ghulam Qadir and Raja Farooq Haider, have publicly disagreed and said they won't take part in the vote. Gillani will face the PPP's Sardar Mukhtar Ahmed Abbasi, with the PML-N holding thirty-two seats in the forty-six-member assembly. The election is scheduled for the afternoon, and the oath-taking ceremony is planned at the President's House.
