A journalist filed more than one hundred requests to access personal data held by various companies, citing rights granted under the California Consumer Privacy Act. As Ars Technica tells it, one request to McDonald's resulted in a five hundred fifteen page report detailing app interactions and predictions about the user's future eating habits. The California law, which took effect in twenty twenty, allows consumers to opt out of the sale of their information, request its deletion, or obtain a copy for themselves.
