Humanitarian crisis worsening in refuge for civilians fleeing Sudan’s civil war
world
The humanitarian situation in El Obeid, Sudan, is worsening as displaced civilians keep arriving from the countryside, The Guardian reports. More than fifteen thousand families have reached the city and nearby camps since mid-July, joining over two hundred thousand people who arrived earlier this year, according to government figures cited by Save the Children. The fighting driving this exodus is between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces militia, a conflict that has displaced millions since it began in 2023.
