French Presidential campaign heats up

France 24 says there are eight months left until France’s presidential election, with the first round set for April eighteenth. The campaign is slowly heating up, highlighted by a two‑day Socialist Party gathering that wrapped up on Saturday with a speech from party leader Olivier Faure, who has not yet announced his candidacy, while far‑right figure Jordan Bardella made a campaign stop at a fair in the Champagne region. Earlier this week a debate among seven leading candidates was organised by business leaders, and the broadcast will feature analysis from Lancaster University senior lecturer Renaud Foucart.
