NASA’s Roman Space Telescope: Launch Updates

NASA Science reports the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is set to lift off Sunday morning from Kennedy Space Center aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. Launching nine months ahead of schedule, the observatory will travel about one million miles to a gravitational balance point known as L2, where its infrared surveys will map billions of galaxies and probe dark energy and dark matter. The U.S. Space Force forecasts a fifty percent chance of favorable weather, with cumulus clouds and surface electric fields the main concerns. Beyond cosmology, the mission is expected to uncover roughly one hundred thousand new exoplanets and build a vast public data archive for research on stars, black holes, and the evolution of the universe.
