24-bit/192kHz music downloads and why they make no sense

tech

According to a technical analysis from Xiph dot org, twenty-four-bit, one hundred ninety-two kilohertz audio downloads don't offer meaningful benefits over standard CD-quality files. The human ear can't distinguish the difference, and consumer equipment — your stereo system, your room's acoustics, even your earbuds — introduces enough noise to eliminate any theoretical advantage. The format works fine; it's the value proposition that falls flat.
