According to Surfing Complexity, synthesis—integrating disparate pieces into a coherent whole—is fundamentally harder than analysis, the act of breaking systems down into parts. In software engineering, we're trained to decompose problems, but the real skill lies in knowing how components should fit together. It's easy to take things apart. Putting them back together with intention is where the real work begins.
