Italy ordered to compensate woman who was told her rape allegations were ‘normal’
world
According to The Guardian World, the European Court of Human Rights has ordered Italy to pay compensation to a woman whose rape allegations against her partner were dismissed by a prosecutor. The prosecutor had characterized the repeated assaults as "normal" for men struggling to overcome resistance from what he called "tired" women. The court ruled that these remarks perpetuated sexist stereotypes and downplayed gender violence, subjecting the woman to further victimization.
