Iridium folds Aireon aviation safety service into Rocket Lab-bound business

Satellite operator Iridium has finalized its acquisition of Aireon, bringing the aircraft-tracking service completely in-house. This consolidation happens just before Iridium's planned eight billion dollar sale to Rocket Lab. According to SpaceNews, the move ensures aviation safety infrastructure stays unified through the larger transaction.
