Seven high-profile figures, including Prince Harry and Elton John, have lost a legal battle against Associated Newspapers Limited over alleged unlawful information gathering. In a four hundred thirty-six-page judgment, a judge ruled the claimants failed to prove their allegations. The court determined that while the claimants alleged unlawful practices, there remained legitimate and realistic lawful sources for the information in question. The judge also said the claimants could not prove that any particular story's information must have been obtained unlawfully. The claims have been dismissed. According to The Guardian, the newspaper has indicated it will seek to recover legal costs.
