Australia news live: Telstra says 90% of mobile network back online after major outages affect trains, Eftpos and triple-zero calls
tech
According to The Guardian, a major Telstra outage has disrupted services across Australia, with the telco reporting that ninety percent of its mobile network is now back online. The acting communications minister warned that a large number of mobile calls and connections were affected. The fallout was wide-ranging: a radio network fault brought Victoria's regional train network to a halt, with V/Line cancelling a long list of services and advising passengers to defer travel where possible. The outage also reportedly hit Eftpos payments and, more seriously, triple-zero emergency calls.
