‘Software glitch’ blamed for mass outage – as it happened

A software glitch at Telstra triggered a major outage across Australia. According to The Guardian, the telco has apologised for a time-keeping fault that disrupted mobile service, halted trains, and even affected triple-zero emergency calls. Victoria's regional rail network ground to a halt after a radio network fault, with V/Line cancelling a long list of services and urging passengers to defer travel where possible.
