Telstra blames ‘software defect’ for major outage that hit mobiles, trains and triple-zero calls
tech
Australia's largest mobile network, Telstra, suffered a major outage Wednesday morning that disrupted services for about twenty-five million customers. Mobile calls, data access, and emergency triple zero calls were all affected. According to The Guardian, a software defect in the network's time servers triggered the failure. Telstra confirmed it was not a cyber-attack, but cautioned users against scammers posing as Telstra representatives. Services were fully restored by four p-m Australian Eastern Standard Time.
