Students Connect NASA Science With Indigenous Knowledge to Study Coastal Erosion

According to NASA News, students at the Pleasant Point Passamaquoddy Reservation in Downeast Maine, known as Sipayik, are pairing NASA science with Indigenous knowledge to study coastal erosion along Passamaquoddy Bay. For generations, the community has read the tides and the land as teachers; now that traditional understanding is being combined with satellite and Earth science data to track how the shoreline is changing.
