According to France 24, Nigeria's thirty-six states have not yet ratified the establishment of State Police forces, a key reform President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has proposed to address the country's worsening security crisis. For decades, Nigeria has struggled to restructure its internal security architecture. The proposed system would add state-level police forces to the existing national and local police structure. Despite mounting public distrust in current policing and deteriorating security conditions, the states have not moved forward with ratification.
