According to The Guardian, UK retail surveillance is expanding. Facewatch, a facial recognition system used by more than one hundred businesses including Sainsbury's, B and M, and Spar, is launching real time alerts to police when serious offenders are detected in stores. Civil liberties groups warn the move marks a dangerous escalation of surveillance and criminalization in retail.
