A court in Kazakhstan has convicted four defendants over the sexual assault of a fourteen-year-old girl, Meduza reports, citing the anti-sexual-violence foundation NeMolchiKZ. Two of the defendants were sentenced to thirteen years in prison each, a third to eight years, and the fourth to two years and eight months. The case has drawn scrutiny because, despite footage that captured the assault, the court downgraded three of the rape charges to what it termed consensual sex with a minor.
