A pioneering grid-battery factory is headed for this California city

Sodium-ion batteries, a promising alternative to lithium, are moving toward commercial-scale deployment. Per Canary Media, Peak Energy—a startup founded in twenty twenty-three to commercialize the technology—is now building a gigafactory in Sacramento, California. The facility will be the nation's first to mass-produce sodium-ion battery storage systems for the grid.
