Datacentres drive emissions of Microsoft, Amazon and Google to half those of France

The Guardian reports that Microsoft, Amazon, and Google's carbon emissions surged nearly twenty percent in the past year, driven primarily by datacentre construction. The three companies collectively emitted one hundred nineteen million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent—roughly half of France's emissions. All three companies say they remain committed to achieving net zero carbon output.
