France 24 reports a major fire has erupted in Fontainebleau forest, the green space locals call the lungs of greater Paris. Around four hundred firefighters have mobilized to fight it. The timing is brutal: the blaze struck just days before Bastille Day and during the first major weekend of summer vacation departures, disrupting train networks and highways across the Paris region.
