The Guardian reports that shipping traffic through the strait of Hormuz has fallen sharply after the United States and Iran exchanged military strikes, with a marine intelligence firm recording the lowest level of crossings in a month on Sunday. The strait is one of the world's most important oil shipping routes. Bahrain's military, meanwhile, has accused Iran of deliberately targeting civilians, saying its air defences intercepted and destroyed a number of Iranian missiles and drones, after Tehran said it had struck US military facilities in the country.
