Middle East crisis live: US launches new wave of strikes; UAE says two tankers in strait of Hormuz hit by Iranian missiles

The Guardian reports that the United States has launched a fresh wave of strikes against Iranian forces, with the US military saying the campaign will keep imposing a heavy cost and degrade Iran's ability to attack civilians and commercial shipping in the strait of Hormuz. The United Arab Emirates says two tankers in the strait were hit by Iranian missiles. Bahrain's military, meanwhile, has accused Iran of deliberately targeting civilians, saying its air defences intercepted a number of Iranian missiles and drones over the kingdom, after Tehran claimed it had struck US military facilities there.
