Twitter Thoughts For You
tech
Zvi Mowshowitz, writing on Don't Worry About the Vase, has been testing Twitter's algorithm to understand which posts the platform actually shows you. Earlier this year, he found his For You feed was showing only between five and twenty-seven percent of posts from accounts he explicitly follows. He recently re-ran the experiment and found significant improvement: the For You feed now shows roughly thirty-seven percent content from followed accounts. Twitter's head of product, Nikita Bier, confirmed the shift, noting the algorithm had been missing data about people you follow back, which made replies feel like conversations with strangers. While far from perfect, the change appears to be a genuine improvement users have been asking for.
