Per Adafruit Blog, a developer on GitHub named decrazyo has documented how to modify the classic Nintendo Entertainment System with a second graphics processor, unlocking capabilities the original hardware was never designed for—more colors, more sprites on screen, and parallax scrolling effects. For anyone hesitant to modify actual hardware, decrazyo has also adapted the Mesen2 emulator so you can try the dual-processor setup in software, complete with demo projects that show what's possible when you give the NES the graphical power it never had.
