Sheetz moves 838 stores off VMware: Broadcom created “too much uncertainty"
tech
Sheetz, the US convenience store chain, is moving all eight hundred thirty-eight of its locations off VMware, Ars Technica reports. The chain has run VMware virtualization across Dell servers at each store since twenty nineteen, but Broadcom's acquisition of VMware created too much uncertainty to continue. Now Sheetz is migrating roughly eleven thousand virtual machines to StorMagic's SvHCI platform. The company has already completed more than six hundred stores, averaging two hundred per month, and expects to finish within four months.
