LibrePods: use AirPods features that are exclusive to Apple devices
tech
Developer Kavish Devar has released LibrePods, an open-source project that brings AirPods features to Android and Linux by reverse-engineering Apple's proprietary protocol. Per Adafruit Blog, the software unlocks capabilities that were previously Apple-exclusive, including noise control modes, ear detection, accurate battery status, head gestures, and conversational awareness on non-Apple platforms. The code is available on GitHub, though the developers warn that a website claiming to be the official project site is actually unaffiliated.
