UK investigation to determine if TikTok fails to protect children from harmful content

TikTok is facing a formal investigation from Ofcom, the UK's online regulator, according to The Guardian. The watchdog is concerned the platform's age verification systems are ineffective, potentially leaving children exposed to content about self-harm and suicide. The investigation follows nearly a year of the Online Safety Act being in effect, which introduced new safeguarding rules for how social media platforms must protect minors.
