Young Galaxy Cluster
science
NASA reports that the James Webb Space Telescope has captured an image of a young galaxy cluster from approximately four point four billion years ago. The cluster, designated MACS J0553 point 4-3342, consists of two sub-clusters of nearly equal mass that are actively merging. Each sub-cluster is anchored by an exceptionally bright, massive elliptical galaxy, making them the dominant structures visible in this cosmic scene.
