Distillery owner could face only three months in jail over alleged poisoning Australian teenagers
world
The Guardian reports that the distillery owner linked to the deaths of two Australian backpackers could serve as little as three months in jail. Bianca Jones and Holly Morton-Bowles, both nineteen, were fatally poisoned with methanol while drinking at a backpackers' hostel in Vang Vieng, Laos, as they travelled through southeast Asia. A court in Laos has now announced charges in the case, which also claimed four other travellers, but the prospect of such a light sentence has raised fears the punishment will fall far short of the loss.
