ESP32-driven Roulette Wheel Could Have Used a 555, but That Didn’t have WiFi

tech

Hulk, a maker, built a roulette wheel around a five fifty-five timer chip—until feature creep changed his mind. Hackaday reports that he upgraded to an ESP32 to add WiFi connectivity, an SQL database, and a web-based betting interface for two players. The LED chase effect still uses decade counters driven by the ESP32, which now also tracks where the light lands and calculates game results. Overkill? Absolutely, but it was the fastest path to a playable game given the tools he already had at hand.
