FDA approves new kind of cholesterol pill

Per Hacker News, the FDA has approved the first oral PCSK9 inhibitor for lowering LDL cholesterol in adults with high cholesterol. PCSK9 inhibitors work by blocking a protein involved in cholesterol regulation; until now, available PCSK9 drugs have required injection or infusion.
