A secure USB drive that hides itself

Adafruit is reporting on Phantomdrive, an open-source USB drive designed for privacy. When you first plug it in, it appears as an eight-gigabyte drive—but the remaining capacity is completely invisible to your operating system. To unlock the hidden section, you edit a plaintext file with a password trigger, and the drive remounts itself to reveal an A-E-S two fifty-six encryption vault. Creator Ryan Walker built it using a CH569 chip specifically to address privacy concerns in places where you might be forced to decrypt your files or face unwarranted suspicion simply for having certain data.
