Swathes of Cairngorms unrecognisable after 12 days of ‘cataclysmic’ wildfires

A sprawling wildfire has scorched the Cairngorms national park in Scotland for twelve straight days, leaving blackened moorland and forest where cloud cover has cleared. The Guardian reports that large sections are still ablaze, with smoke pouring into the sky and, by evening, an eerie orange glow overhead. The Cairngorms, one of the Highlands' most prized natural landscapes, is now described as unrecognisable. Officials say recovery from what's being called the park's worst blaze could take decades.
