Saudi forces planning ‘major offensive against Houthis in central Yemen’

The Guardian reports that Saudi Arabia is preparing for a major military offensive against the Houthis in central Yemen, by sea and possibly by land, aimed at breaking the group's control over oil exports through the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab strait. Saudi forces have been withdrawing from eastern Yemen in what suggests preparation for a land component, and Riyadh is simultaneously organizing a naval coalition to protect shipping in the region.
