Gasoline prices suddenly fell in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Krai ahead of a possible Putin visit

Gas prices in Russia's Krasnoyarsk Krai region plummeted on August second, with major fuel chains cutting prices by more than twenty rubles per liter. According to Meduza, gasoline dropped to sixty-three rubles, down from eighty-seven. The regional government blamed a new fuel shipment, but independent Russian outlets suggest the timing may be tied to a possible visit by Vladimir Putin — something that's happened before. When Putin visited nearby Irkutsk last month, local gas prices dropped by eleven to twelve rubles the same day. The price cuts come as Russia continues to struggle with a fuel crisis fueled by Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries over the past two months.
