Most X accounts posting about Belfast and Southampton unrest were based outside UK

A Guardian analysis finds that more than half the X accounts posting about the Belfast riots and Southampton unrest from June were based outside the UK. Of the eight thousand six hundred seventy-two accounts whose posts drew over a thousand views, only about forty-five percent showed a UK location, according to the platform's own location feature, The Guardian reports. Seven of the twelve most-read posts on the events came from the US.
