Fire extinguished at Aramco refinery in Saudi Arabia's Jazan; Houthis claim attack

Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed on Sunday they struck an Aramco oil refinery on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast with a drone, per Dawn. A fire broke out at the Jazan facility and was extinguished by Saudi Aramco firefighting teams with no injuries reported. The refinery, which processes four hundred thousand barrels of crude oil daily, had been shut down since late July following a previous Houthi attack that damaged its Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle complex. Dawn reports the Houthis also targeted Saudi-allied military positions and equipment near the coastal city of Mokha and islands near Bab al-Mandeb, the shipping chokepoint at the southern entrance to the Red Sea. The escalation marks a collapse of a years-long truce in Yemen's civil war and signals intensifying regional tensions over critical energy infrastructure and shipping routes.
