X-rays: Beyond the Nobel Prize limit

When laser light strikes certain atoms, it can transform into something entirely different: laser pulses with frequencies so high they reach the X-ray range. Phys.org reports that this X-ray laser research achieved record-breaking results at TU Wien in the nineteen nineties, work that was recognized with the twenty twenty-three Nobel Prize in Physics.
