Per Phys.org, a four-thousand-year-old painted stone plaque discovered on a remote Indonesian island is the first known example of portable art from the Austronesian Painting Tradition. The artifact offers rare insight into the symbolic world of the Austronesian peoples, considered some of history's greatest maritime voyagers.
